- 0944 hours and ready to go. The Fuller's are breaking wind and we are the catchers! Good bye to Oak Hollow Campground in High Point, North Carolina. Red Fish here we come!

1147 hours we crossed into South Carolina. Welcome to us all. We stopped about an hour later at Johnnie's diner for lunch. True southern hospitality and good home-style cookin'. On the way we noticed the tall, spindly oak and pine trees, plus some other kind of tree starting to display its old english red leaves. One time only, there were approximately six short palm trees in the center of the highway. I saw a small plaque on one of the bridges crossing the Giant Pee Dee River, near Cheraw, S.C., noting the home of Dizzy Gillespie. Cool. Often I would see plantation homes, large country red brick homes with porches; one with a white/silver/red artificial Christmas tree on the front porch. Sometimes you would see a gray dilapidated house slowly crumbling back to nature. However, mostly green waves of land, surrounded by rows of planted wind-break trees and well kept homes. Picturesque and paintable.

1440 hours, just a tad past Society Hill, S.C. we took a short break.
1644 hours we arrived at our destination of The Oakes RV Resort, Point South, Yemassee, S.C. We set up and out our coaches and an hour later we were dining at the Waffle House. Yummy pecan pancakes for all! We learned that the lake in our area has alligators. The signs requests us not to feed them, however, they would not be opposed to us or our pets as a possible source of feed. Okay, I get it. Keep the dogs away. It was mentioned that during the sunny part of the day the gators like to come out of the water to sun themselves. Hmm, methinks it best to keep Lucy the Lab on a leash at all times.

- Sleeping in. No plans in particular have been made. It is almost 1100. Decided to go to Beaufort and take the walk around town.We viewed beautiful plantation style homes and learned more about the struggles the south faced. Walked the waterfront, visited the chocolate store and had an okay meal at Kathleen's place. Rebecca had a soft shell crab...she gets the whole thing and you eat it as is. She said it was okay, though she would not have it again. My crab soup was 5 stars. We booked a fishing guide for Tuesday as it is the best tide day, party of two. That eveningthe guide, Captail James Sykes called to say the storm rolling in woud be too dangerous and possibly the next day may be best.

- Leap year! Rebecca and Dave are planning on leaving today for Fort Gordon, Georgia. It is about 140 miles from here and that way they can spend the weekend with Rebecca's son, David George. Unfortunately, Rebecca is now feeling the beginnings of the flu thanks for Joe and I. He stayed away while sick, however, I visited often and probably carried it right to her. Bad me! They have now decided to extend their stay till everyone feels tip top.
