Tuesday 22 July 2008 - Walker River Resort, Smith, NV

Tuesday 22 July 2008

We headed out around noon today from Moonlight Hill to the Walker River Resort in Smith, NV.

We arrived and were settled in around 1600 hours, space 102. This is an RPI resort and our good friends, Dave & Rebecca Fuller gave us some passes to use whenever we are in the area of one of these nice resorts. We were warmly welcomed and encouraged to enjoy everything the resort offers. Thank you Dave & Rebecca!!!
And, that is quite a lot. There is a trophy fishing section on the Walker River for one point of interest. A Nevada fishing license is required. There is something for everyone. A large swimming pool, large hot tub, sauna; plus a walk up window to order your favorite beverages. Inside the lodge is a nice store with basic supplies and a friendly staff. Also, there is the lounge with bar, pool table and slot machines. If you need a laundry room, it comes with several washers & driers, modem for computer needs (no WiFi, yet), book exchange; and, the best part, put your laundry in and while waiting, take a swim. Just a few steps away to relax, relax, relax. Of course, if you like to golf, there is a nine hole course. However, the popular ticket for this area seems to be the ATV trails. There were many 'sports' type RV's in the park and even a greater variety of ATV's. Trails are well marked and there are many places to ride and see...the ghost town of Bode, some mining spots, neighboring little towns all via dirt trails. Horseback riding is here, too.
For us, we were just starting out on our second long adventure and we decided to relax, swim, read, nap, swim, nap; and take turns walking Lucy the Lab.
