We are departing Amarillo, Texas heading west on I40. It is windy and the weather reporters advised it will be high winds across the states we are traveling through. They were right. All day long, fingers tight on the steering wheel, in-our-face wind. We sit solidly on the road and do not get knocked around...feel quite safe, even if the fuel gauge continues to drop faster than we'd like. Wind and the high price for diesel and we can almost see our dollars flying out of the tank. Yet, putting it into perspective of all things we could be doing...yes, we would be doing this - traveling. It's great!
Around 1017 hours we turned back our watches and entered New Mexico. Sweet. We will only be passing through this time, since it is still early in the day.
1900 Stopped for the night on the New Mexico/Arizona border in another nice rest area with parking designated for RV's.
