Sunday apprx 0800 hours. Leaving Holbrook, Arizona in icy cold temps. The outside of the coach was icy and some places had icicles.
1048 hours we crossed into New Mexico. I was in a mood to drive so today I took us from camp to camp. Yesterday, Joe did all the driving. We usually switch places when fueling.
1230 hours stopped at Gallup, NM. A most important stop...at Walmart. We picked up some fresh food and other stuff. It is now warm; hats n gloves off. Thank you for this blessing.
1811 hours stopped at a roadside rest for the evening. New Mexico rates 4.8 out of 5 stars. Their roads are well maintained and over passes, exits, etc are decorated and painted in natures colors to compliment their state. In some places along I40 were huge native pots...four feet tall or taller placed along the highway just for looks. Nice. There is a lot of pride here. The landscape is spotless and more USA flags fly here than any other state we've seen. Anyway, back to the rest stop. It is large, spacious, quiet, and pleasant. There are adobe shelters build around the picnic tables, trash cans at every place and lots of room for Lucy the Lab to run and play. I encourage travelers to consider dry-camping at rest stops along I40 in New Mexico.
