You ask what I have done since 1965. Lots! I went to work for the County of Lake in October 1971 as an appraiser and 31 years later I retired. I met my wife Glenda in Red Bluff, California and got married January 9, 1999. Glenda moved to Lake County and worked at the Lake County Tax Collector's Office and is now retired.
We both enjoy hunting and fishing, so quite often we are out chasing whatever is in season. To this end we have two "kids" that help us out. Both Labrador retrievers. We, along with several friends lease a large ranch in northern Mendocino County. We don't get there as much as I would like, but whenever we can we zip up there and enjoy the solitude. In 2008 we took a three week vacation to Australia. The only part of the county we didn't get to was western Australia. We both enjoyed the country and the people, and some day hope to go back.
Also for about four months a year I volunteer with California Waterfowl, maintaining and checking over one hundred Wood duck nest boxes around Clear Lake. Screech owls and grey squirrels also use these boxes.
I band the hen Wood ducks and adult and baby screech owls for this project, maintaining a detailed record of eggs produced, hatched and abandon.
Well, that is about it in a nutshell. We will see you September 25th at Rob Roy. You have my permission to use these photos.
