Western Coachman Dry

• Hook: Dry 1x #12-#16
• Thread: Black 6/0 -8/0
• Tail: Golden Pheasant Tippet
• Body: Peacock Herl
• Wing: White Calf Hair
• Hackle: Brown or Furnace

Materials and directions

Tie in tail fibers equal to length of hook shank.

Attach single peacock herl and wrap thread forward to 3/4 of hook shank. Clip off excess tippet fibers.

Coat hook shank and wrapped tippet with head cement, palmer herl forward and tie off. Clip off excess herl.

Tie in calf hair trude style. Hair should extend to hook bend. Trim excess hair from hackle area.

Attach hackle and wrap thread forward leaving space for head.

Wrap hackle three or four times, tie off and clip excess.

Form head and whip finish.

Apply head cement if desired.
