April Meeting
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday April 12, at 7:00 PM at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. At this meeting we will have a spring cleaning for our rods and reels. We’ll clean our rods, freshen up the cork grips, and make them presentable for the season. We’ll scrub our lines and apply line cleaner and lubricant. We’ll also prep our reels with fresh grease. So bring your rods and reels for this tune-up.
Fishouts
The next fishout will be at Pyramid on April 16, the Saturday after our meeting. Pyramid has been fishing really well this past winter and if weather is decent (overcast and a little breezy) folks should have a great time. We’ll meet at North Nets, just below Sutcliffe. These beaches are getting a lot of use, as the Pyramid secret is out. There are hundreds of fish cruising the dropoff and some are eating. Bring a floating line with indicator, and an assortment of midges. If you have balanced leeches, they are producing too. Also bring a sinking line or shooting head, with assorted wooly buggers (white or black) and assorted beetles (chartreuse with white foam or brown with black foam). I’ve caught fish on both midges and beetles, and even on calm sunny days. When you find the distance, depth, and fly where a fish bites repeat for more fish.
The Frenchmen’s Lake campout weekend 5/21 is now questionable. The lake is at 40 percent capacity and it’s a long way to haul your boat down to the water. The board is considering moving it to Lake Davis. Stay tuned.
Don’t forget to bring a pair of flies for the Fly-ffle drawing. Everyone is welcome and this event is open to tiers of all levels.
Fishing Classes
Stan’s Fly Fishing Academy will be on a condensed schedule at the CC Sheriff’s Office. Dates are May 6, in the evening, and all day Saturday May 7th. Saturday will culminate with a jaunt out to Baily Pond to catch some leftovers from the Kids Fishing Day.

Website
Our website is in the process of being overhauled. When done, it will have a new look and feel. We have now included a google calendar, and look forward to several other additions and modifications. If you’d like to see it, click on this link or copy it into your web browser address window:
If you have a favorite website or two which you would like links to on our website, let me know. If there is any other facility you would like included on our website, we can work on that too. Now is the time to provide your suggestions.
Tying Tip
If you are taking in one of the CFTG meetings, try tying 3 flies of the pattern before the meeting. You’ll know where the challenging steps lie, where to stop the demonstrator and what questions to ask. You’ll get more from the session if you do.
Fishing Reports:
If you have a report to share, let me know. I’ll add in as space allows. Please include locations and what methods were effective.
