Friday - Monday 14- 17 March
We headed off to Perry, Georgia to attend the biggest RV show, called THE RALLY. Unfortunately, the morning of departure Dave Fuller was running a temperature and they stayed at Pointes West Campground on Fort Gordon Base. A beautiful place to stay, if one must. Planning for this special event to share together had been in the making for a long time. The day is here and our special friends are not well. And, it was us that started the whole flu episodes. John came down with it in High Point, N.C. where we first caught up with each other to attend the rod building expo at the Showplace. Approximately a week later we were heading to Beaufort, S.C. to go red fishing; and Rebecca spent her time there under the spell of the flu. We then moved to Fort Gordon, Georgia to rest and play for a long week. We were all fine for the most part...Rebecca and John still being congested, though much better. The flu bug struck Dave and they were not able to continue on to Perry, Ga for the Rally. We really missed you both.
At Perry we had a nice dry camping spot on the end of a row near open fields to run Lucy the Lab. A shuttle came around every half hour or sooner to give us a lift into the fairgrounds. It was huge....hundred of vendors, many educational seminars, lots of food vendors and major makers of RV's are parked everywhere. Oh, on one menu a fried balogna sandwich was offered. It was yummy. The featured dessert was Peach Cobbler, naturally. We walked miles every day just trying to see everything. We viewed mega-decked out units to basic RV's. Prices ranged from over a million dollars to just a few thousand. Every evening there was a slide show preview of the days activities, notes and reminders, plus super entertainment. If you have not attended a Rally before, we recommend doing this at least once. We are glad we did.
